PROGRAM FEATURES





Little Heroes SEL after school program is special. It is our Mission to provide social emotional learning support to our students. Every day there are teachable moments that our staff help students work through such as disagreements and misunderstandings. We coach our staff in our daily staff meetings how to listen to both sides, "talk it out", self-care such deep breaths & drinking water, taking responsibility, telling the truth, apologizing and more. We are making a big impact in little ways. You can see the relief and gratitude on their faces as they happily resume playing. These "talks" take time that's why we hire a big team to give the students the attention they need. The Innovative Brightwheel App allows us to quickly update you so that you can follow up in the car ride home and be an integral part of your child's SEL. The skills and values we emphasize include good sportsmanship, fair leadership, patience, courage to speak up, empathy, problem solving, giving each other space, emotions are normal, what to do next time, respectful communication and ask adults for help. What we do



At Little Heroes our student's love the free time to play, socialize and be creative.
Play time is so important for children's development and they are always learning! Play time is a safe and healthy way for children to process their inner and outer world!

COMMUNICATION is a Key Value in our organization. The parent App BRIGHTWHEEL supports our commitment to communicate in a transparent, positive and efficient way. It is the #1 way we communicate with you! Please turn ON your notifications.


We will message you to:

- Announce a school closures due to inclement weather or power outage

- Pick up exit has moved due to Voting or maintenance repair

- Your child tripped, it's all cleaned up, he/she is okay & back to playing

- Your child is not feeling well, can you pick up early?

- Your child had a argument with another student & SEL steps taken

- Photos of your child playing with their friends or building a giant magnet tower

- Other incidents so that you can follow up at home and help us reinforce your child's learning and Little Heroes expectations

- KUDOS we appreciate your child helping us clean up or helping another student


You can communicate with us too if you are:

- Running Late, send your ETA​

- Remind us about Tutoring or Enrichment

- Let us know if your child will be Absent

- Look for a Lost and Found item

- Authorize another Pick up person *give them your 4 digit pin

- Request 15-20 min. in advance to get your child ready for a dentist appt. or swim lesson

- Suggestions on how to support your child

- Questions "Is Monday a Holiday and are we closed"?

GENERAL DAILY SCHEDULE






The below schedule gives you an idea of what your children will do after their school day ends. This is a general schedule. It is subject to change depending on weather, school events or building maintenance.

  1. Dismissal/Attendance- Leaders pick up students from designated area & check IN your child on our parent app. You will receive an Attendance Notification on your Brightwheel App. Please turn ON your Notifications!
  2. Restroom and Hand-washing
  3. Dinner & Snack time - HISD offers a healthy, balanced meal including vegetarian options OR you can send extra snacks from home.
  4. 2nd thru 5th Grade: Homework Assistance & Play stations
    Pre3&4 / Kinder/ 1st Grade: Play stations
  5. Rotation: Our students are very happy and they love the freedom to choose their play stations inside or outside.
  6. Use your 4 digit Pin in your Brigthwheel app to securely Check Out your child at Pick Up. Give your Pin to grandparents or babysitters too.
  7. ​Movies are offered on Rainy days.

Little Heroes encourages our students to get plenty of fresh air, sunshine and exercise playing outside!




ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES





In addition to our Full Time and Part-Time care, parents may also enroll their student for a variety of on-campus, fee-based enrichment classes lead by professionals and outside experts. Students must be enrolled full time or part-time in Little Heroes in order to participate in Enrichment. If you do not need care until closing you can choose "ENRICHMENT ONLY". Semester fee: $120.00. There is no additional fee if your child is already signed up for Full Time care.

Activities will vary at your school and include:

  • COMPUTER CODING * CHESS * HIP HOP
  • SPANISH * ART/CRAFTS * WORLD EXPLORERS
  • BALLET * SOCCER * FLAG FOOTBALL
  • LEVEL UP **SEL group class lead by a professional

Each semester offers 12 weeks of classes and includes a make up week if the Vendor needs to postpone one week. Fall Enrichment classes start the week of September 8th and Spring classes starts the week of February 2nd. Little Heroes manages and facilitates the Enrichment program including coordinating the vendors, schedule, rosters, providing additional employee supervision, a secure parent app, attendance notifications, important Announcements and confirming approval with school principals and administration. The Enrichment vendors are independent, parents Sign up and pay the Vendor directly. A minimum number of students is required for a class to make. Email littleheroesap.com to request a copy of the Enrichment class schedule. The class list is also shared in the Brightwheel parent app, your school's app and PTO.
